Is there an end?

China has been paying high cost for the coal mine industry. The low production safty and bad management was comsuming thousands of miners' life every year.

This week, another gas explosion in a colliery in Tangshan, North China's Hepei Province, has killed 74 miners and left 32 missing until 10:50am Thursday.

About 186 miners were working underground when the blast happened at 3:30 pm in Liuguantun Mine in Tangshan's Kaiping District. This was the third incident in two weeks involving hundreds of miners.

On Tuesday, rescuers recovered the body of the last miner missing in a November 27 explosion in Northeast China, bringing the final death toll in that mishap to 171.

Also yesterday, 42 miners were trapped underground after the shaft flooded at Sigou Coal Mine in Central China's Henan Province.
